March 21

I know I should be working on my talk for thursday night right now, but I haven’t posted an update in a long time, and I wanted to ask for prayers about my talk. I’m a little behind getting started preparing it, and it seems I have a world of distractions every where I turn. All of them are good distractions, but it does make me a little anxious about the talk. I’m not exactly a veteran. Can’t really pull one out of my old talks file since it’s only one talk deep. I think some people might notice.

updates… Rahi and Ali and Farid, my Iranian friends and I have hung out a good bit. I was out of town last Friday (watching the #1 bulldogs sweep Tennessee), so I wasn’t able to ride the Wal Mart bus. But I did go to lunch with Rahi and Ali. That was two fridays in a row for Rahi. Both lunches I was able to share the Gospel in a very comfortable, relevant way. I’ll be driving Ali to Montgomery on Friday so he can get his driver’s liscense, so pray that our conversation about Christ will continue, and pray that God will soften his heart and make him open to accepting His Gospel. Please pray the same for Rahi and Farid.

Kappa Sigma Bible study is on week 3. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the guys in that house better. We’ve had a steady group of 6-8 guys who are reading together with me from Thoughts for Young Men by JC Ryle.

Ultimate frisbee has been going well. The season is almost over, and I’ve had to miss several practices lately. But my knee is thankful for the rest.

Yesterday I found out that I’ll be spending more time than I expected in Europe following our time in Russia over spring break. I had planned to make a brief stop in Italy (courtesy of RyanAir — $40 round trip flight), but I was only going to see Pisa. Now I’ve been given the opportunity to spend some time in Salerno instead, visiting with the STINT team there for a few extra days. Officially I’ll be working, but all I know is that I’ll be spending a lot of time reconnecting with Alfredo at my favorite pizza place. But please pray that my time there will be productive and encouraging both to me and to the STINT team. And pray also that I’m able to have good, though brief, time with Jim and Angela and the rest of the Pisa folks.

Michael. I”ve been meeting with him pretty consistently. We’re talking a lot about money, and a friend of mine here at Auburn has volunteered to meet with him to help advise him on his finances. His girls are a handful, but a lot of fun. But please pray that the students who are baby sitting them will be able to have a significant impact on their lives. And pray for Michael’s job situation. he thought he had an offer for a new job, but it fell through. I think he’s pretty discouraged.
Russia. We leave Saturday and will be in Moscow from Sunday until Friday. PLease pray for our time there, that we will have energy, and will be an encouragement to the STINT team there. Pray that God will allow us to meet students who are interested in knowing God, and that God will add to the ministry as a result of our time there. And pray for the details of our travel.

I think that’s all. I feel like I”m forgetting something. I guess I can add it later. Oh, I am in the process of raising support for this trip and the Summer Project in Russia. So if any of you feel called to give, there is information on how to do so under the Ministry Partners link on the right column.

Thank you all for your prayers. I’m learning a lot about prayer this semester. You are all an essential part of this ministry because you pray.

Hey Drew…It’s your long last friend from PCB. Reading your entries brings me such encouragement in my life. It’s great to see what God is doing through you life. I love how you let the Holy Spirit move through you and how you give all of your life to Jesus for Him to use. Awesome! You are a great Christian role model.
